    (IANS)

Singer Mark Owen has apologised after admitting he cheated on his partner of five years, before they married in 2009.

The 38-year-old 'Take That' star had recently admitted that he had been unfaithful and had relations with several women during his relationship with Emma Ferguson, the mother of his children.

However, he insisted he has been faithful since marrying Ferguson, reports bbc.co.uk.

In a statement he said: 'I'm so deeply sorry for the pain my actions have caused my family and friends.'

The singer, who has two children with Ferguson, added: 'I'd like to ask the media to please respect the privacy of my wife and children during this difficult time.'

'I have been living with the guilt. It has always been there - you carry it around with you,' he said.

'The wedding for me was a new slate and a new start. In my head there was never a time when I was doubting getting married.

'It held me back in my relationship with Emma. I wouldn't have done any of this if I had my time again.

'I am halfway through my life now and this, in a way, is a lesson. You've got to learn and that's what I am going to do,' he added.

The star said he was 'proud' of the fact he had not cheated since tying the knot.

'I know that sounds really stupid but on our wedding day, for me the ring is really important and I want to be true to my word,' he said..

'It was a big moment for me, my wedding day.
